Clinical Experience, Combination Therapy with Help Apheresis and our patients – a talk with our medical director and chief physician, Dr. Irina Pavlik Marangos
Dr. Irina as she is affectionately called by our patients and nurses has been working in research in the University Hospital Oslo for almost a decade before she decided to come back to the frontline. After having treated chronic illness sufferers for many years, there is only few symptoms and medical issues she has not come across in this field – one of the reasons no patient ever gets a questioning look from her. Only if someone under her care does not follow her doctor’s advice she will go in no time from soft as silk to pragmatic! One of her biggest strengths is to talk to patients in a non-medical language that makes everyone understand their treatment effortlessly.

In this talk science journalist Gez Medinger and our co-founder Markus Klotz talk about their own Long Covid journeys and why they both came to the conclusion that Combination Therapy for Long Covid needs to be individualised for every single one of us. Back in early 2021 when Markus simply did not recover, but got worse and worse after his first Covid infection it was Gez’ Youtube videos that made him understand that what he was suffering from was Long Covid. Like him, many have benefitted from Gez’ work. During his stay at our clinic, he and Markus took some time and shared some insights they both learned over the last two years.

H.E.L.P. Apheresis – How does it work? A simplified (non-medical) explanation.
Notre patient Jeremy nous a permis de filmer son traitement d'aphérèse H.E.L.P. Nr.8, afin que les gens puissent avoir un aperçu détaillé avant de subir le traitement eux-mêmes. Nous avons essayé d'expliquer les choses de manière très simplifiée et sous une forme facile à comprendre et, en contrepartie, nous avons sacrifié un peu de la précision médicale et scientifique pour que ce soit plus facile à regarder.

H.E.L.P. Aphérèse avec accès par cathéter à la jambe
Our patient Stephen allowed us to film his H.E.L.P. Apheresis treatment, so that people can get an insight on how the treatment works with the use of a catheter (a special apheresis catheter is used if you have very small veins, bad/affected veins that make them inaccessible with apheresis needles, or in some cases if your apheresis needles keep getting blocked). H.E.L.P. Vidéo sur la préparation et l'amorçage des machines d'aphérèse
Environ une heure avant le traitement, les 30 kilogrammes de liquides (NaCl, acétate, bicarbonate, sulfate d'héparane), les tuyaux, les adsorbants et les filtres doivent être préparés et raccordés. La machine Plasmat Futura doit ensuite être rincée, testée et préparée, puis soumise à plusieurs auto-tests mécaniques pour vérifier que toutes les pompes, les pinces, les capteurs et l'électronique sont précis et fonctionnent à 100 % (ce processus s'appelle l'amorçage).

Documentaire d'ARTE TV 'Long Covid - Healing in Cyprus' sur notre centre d'aphérèse
Le documentaire a été diffusé en juin 2024. Une équipe de journalistes de la chaîne de télévision européenne ARTE TV a accompagné trois de nos patients atteints de Long Covid et de Post Vac Syndrom et les a interviewés, ainsi que notre équipe au Centre d'aphérèse. Vous pouvez regarder ici un extrait du documentaire qui est également facile à regarder pour les patients souffrant de dysfonctionnement cognitif, de brainfog et de migraines associées. Verena
Verena was first treated with an Immunoadsorption, then 5 H.E.L.P. Apheresis and at last with Combination Therapy with HBOT. The TV team documented her 2nd visit in Cyprus whilst she received her HBOT therapy. Our co-founder Markus talked to her after her H.E.L.P. Liz
Liz was treated with 9 H.E.L.P. Apheresis and Combination Therapy. The TV team documented her 2 month long stay at our clinic whilst she received her Combination Therapy with H.E.L.P. Apheresis, various IVs and anticoagulation therapy. Our co-founder Markus talked to her and her mum Amanda a few months after they returned home. Celine, the third patient who was interviewed and who is seen at the end of this short video excerpt, received 3 H.E.L.P. Apheresis treatments. As mentioned in the documentary’s broadcast, whilst her eyesight recovered through the treatments, she did not report other noticeable symptom changes. The journalists visited her in France.
